Architecture & Math
This course will be like no other math course. Its proper name should be “A Survey of Architectural Design and Engineering”, but that is too long and a little ambiguous. Architecture is the perfect mix of art and science, as you need to develop the ability to creatively design structures and express your ideas with drawings, AND you need to understand the physics of structures while doing so. In college, architecture schools separate these components into design courses and engineering-based courses. In our class, we will meld the two into a series of real-world design projects that will have a mathematical component attached to it. This means every project will be graded on the artistic merit of your work, as well as the mathematical correctness of your work.
